Overview
We believe ideas need room to roam. That’s why we’re offering a home-away-from-home in Berlin for writers eager to explore Uphor, our living, evolving fictional metropolis. Here, you’ll get the chance to immerse yourself in a collaborative, imaginative environment, where your voice can echo through the city’s concrete jungles and hidden corners.
The Creative Goal
During the residency, you’ll produce a short story (6,000–10,000 words) set in Uphor. Whether it’s a heartfelt drama, pulpy sci-fi, or anything in between, we want to see how you stretch the city’s boundaries. Once finished, your piece will undergo professional editing, and if everyone’s on board, we’ll publish it in an individual booklet with unique cover illustration. Read more about it on the Pulp Page.
The Space
You’ll have a private, fully furnished room, plus a shared kitchen and bathroom. Think of it as a cozy landing pad where you can write uninterrupted, then step out to soak in Berlin’s vibrant art scene whenever you need a fresh spark of inspiration.
Logistics and Fair Play
We keep the paperwork lean, but we do have a few basic guidelines:
Deposit & Deadlines: To ensure a smooth stay, we ask for a security deposit and will set a manageable writing deadline.
Health & Emergencies: If life happens—mental, physical, or otherwise—we’ll work with you to find a fair solution.
Rights & Royalties: Should your story go to print, you’ll keep creative credit and receive an equitable share of royalties.
